Karl Ove Knausgård on Celia Paul in The New Yorker
A new profile of Celia Paul by Karl Ove Knausgård appeared in the February 3 edition of The New Yorker. An admirer of Paul and her work, Knausgård interviewed the artist in her longtime studio and was able to view a number of her new and recent paintings. Several times in the piece, he mentions and quotes from what he refers to as Paul’s “autobiography,“ Self-Portrait, published by New York Review Books in 2020.

‘From Ted to Tom’: The First Three Envelopes
From Ted to Tom: The Illustrated Envelopes of Edward Gorey, a new collection of never-before-seen illustrations and letters by the famed American writer and artist, will be published in the New York Review Books series next month. Assembling fifty wonderfully illustrated envelopes—and a selection of the letters within them—sent by Gorey to his friend Tom Fitzharris during the mid-1970s, the book captures what it might be like to be pen pals with one of twentieth-century literature’s most wonderfully eccentric figures. Below, you can get a sneak peek at the first three envelopes (and one of the letters) included in the book.
