Shopping & Book Orders

How do I place an order?
After adding items to your shopping cart, click the “checkout” button on the shopping cart page and follow the instructions on your screen. If you prefer not to use the website to place your order, you can use the site as a catalog, locate the items you wish to order, and then telephone our office to place your order.

What are your shipping charges? Do you ship outside the US?
Our web site calculates postage based on the total weight of the books and the delivery address. Please add your selections to the shopping cart and type in your shipping address. You will see the postage amount before payment information is required. Yes, we ship outside the US.

Is my personal information secure when I shop on this site?
Your order is safe with us. Our website is built on the Shopify e-commerce platform which is dedicated to the highest level of security in transactions possible. You can read more about their compliance with industry security standards here. If you prefer not to use a credit card to place your order, you can use this site as a catalog, locate the items you wish to order, and then telephone or fax our office to place your order.

Which credit cards do you accept?
We accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express.

How do I place a gift order?
Use the gift recipient's name and address on the first page of the checkout process, under the Shipping Address section. On the second page of the checkout process, under Payment Method in the Billing Address section click the circle next to "Use a different billing address" and fill out your billing information. We can only handle one gift shipping address per order. 

Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, please visit our gift certificate page to purchase a gift certificate.

How do I contact the Book Club Membership Department?
If you have a question about your Classics Book Club membership, please visit our Customer Service Center where you can check the status of your membership, update your address, renew or cancel your membership, or change your automatic renewal status.  If you prefer to email, please write to bookclub@nybooks.info.  Also, you may call (800) 354-0050 toll free or (903) 636-1101 if you are located outside the US.

I want to return a book I purchased from your site because I don’t like it/you sent me the wrong one/I already have it/it’s damaged/there’s a print defect. What now?
Please contact our Customer Service department at orders@nybooks.com or call 646-215-2500 for instructions. If you purchased the book from another online retailer or a bookstore, please contact them for help.

I’m a retailer or wholesaler and would like to sell NYRB titles. How do I order?
NYRB titles are distributed to the trade by Penguin Random House everywhere in the world, except for the UK and Ireland where our books are represented by PGUK.

I’m a gift shop or specialty account and would like to order NYRB titles. How do I do this?
NYRB titles are distributed to special market accounts by Penguin Random House everywhere in the world except for the UK and Ireland where our books are represented by PGUK. Please click the appropriate link for your shop: US, UK/Ireland.

I’m a bookstore and would like to sell The New York Review of Books . How do I order?
The Review should be available from your preferred distributor or wholesaler. If it is not, please contact us for assistance.

I’m a librarian. How do I order NYRB titles?
NYRB titles should be available from your preferred distributor or wholesaler. If you discover our books are not carried by your distributor or wholesaler, please email our marketing department.

How can I receive a copy of an NYRB title for review in my publication or blog?
To request a media review copy of a book please write to New York Review Books, Publicity Department, 207 East 32nd Street, NY NY 10016-6305 or email publicity@nybooks.com .

How do I contact one of your authors, introducers or translators?
Please write to publicity@nybooks.com and we’ll forward your message to the writer.

I’d like to suggest one of your books to my book club. Do you have reading group guides?

How do I receive printed copies of your seasonal trade catalogs for forthcoming titles?

Can I download PDFs of your catalogs?
All of our printed catalogs, including seasonal trade catalogs and complete backlist catalogs, are available for viewing online as PDFs. Please visit our About NYRB page to download these catalogs.

How do I sign up for NYRB newsletters?
Please click "Subscribe to our newsletter" from the footer of any page on this site.

I am a college professor or educator. How do I obtain a Desk or Examination copy of an NYRB title?

The site doesn’t look right on my computer. What’s wrong with it?
If you’re having trouble with the site, please let us know. Be sure to include in your message any relevant details about the browser you’re using (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.), and the operating system (Mac OS/iOS, Windows, etc.), as well as the page on which you encountered the problem.

What’s a “cookie”? Do I need to use them to use this site?
