The NYRB Classics Book Club
The NYRB Classics series publishes an eclectic mix of fiction and non-fiction from different eras and different times and of various sorts. The series includes nineteenth century novels and experimental novels, reportage and belles lettres, tell-all memoirs and learned studies, established classics and cult favorites, science fiction, noir favorites, translations, and more. NYRB Classics are, to a large degree, discoveries, the kind of books that people run into outside the classroom and remember for life.
Members of the NYRB Classics Book Club have received new translations by, among others, Balzac, Gogol, Simenon, Zweig, Szabó and Nobel Prize winner Patrick Modiano, as well as classics by William Gass, Renata Adler, Patrick Leigh Fermor, and many others. “NYRB has made a specialty of rescuing and reviving all kinds of ignored or forgotten works,” said The New York Times, “in English or in translation, fiction and nonfiction, by writers renowned and obscure.”
Each month, our editors select a book from our newest titles, and that book is sent postage free (in the US) to club members as soon as it is available.
Annual membership is $150* for the twelve books, plus a bonus book—Balzac’s The Unknown Masterpiece, translated for NYRB Classics by Richard Howard.
A membership for yourself or as a gift for a special reader will promise a year of good reading!
