The legendary author of Margery Kempe and About Ed visits Foyles to mark the re-release Jack the Modernist, a classic of queer American literature.
A spectacular piece of postmodern fiction, Robert Glück’s Jack the Modernist portrays the slow disintegration of a love affair set in the early 1980s. Out of print for decades but recently reissued by NYRB Classics, Glück’s paean to desire and obsession explores the everyday in an idiom both intimate and lush—a candid and heartfelt lover’s discourse unlike any other.
Glück will be in conversation with Andrew Durbin, editor-in-chief of Frieze magazine and author of The Wonderful World that Almost Was, the dual biography of Peter Hujar and Paul Thek published by Granta in April.
The discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Tickets required.
