The Poetry Project hosts William Rowe and Helen Dimos, translators of César Vallejo's Trilce, for a reading and discussion of the craft of translation.
Translators reflect on the relationship between craft, process, and political necessity, asking: How do translators negotiate the granular details of linguistic material without losing sight of the urgency that moves a translation? How can translation create spaces of solidarity beyond the demands of a struggling market, forming bonds across contexts that most need them? What might a renewed internationalism look like—one that more overtly reconnects urgencies that are at once literary and political? With contributions by Helen Dimos, William Rowe, Mayada Ibrahim, and Nicholas Glastonbury.
Tickets are $10, or $5 for Poetry Project members. Reserve a spot here. This event will also be live streamed for free on The Poetry Project's YouTube channel.
