Artists Space hosts Simon Critchley and Tom McCarthy for a conversation celebrating the publication of their new books. Critchley's Heidegger Thinking: 'Being and Time' Explained and McCarthy's The Rhyl Poster are both out fall 2026 from New York Review Books—the former a rigorous yet accessible reading of Heidegger’s Being and Time, the latter a hallucinatory novel about a drug-addicted legal theorist.
While conceived quite separately, these books implicitly continue the dialogue these two have been having with each other for almost three decades. In their first public event together in eleven years, alternating between discussion of and readings from the two works, they will unpick the faultlines of these relations, in dialogue with each other and the audience.
This event is free, no RSVP required.
