Collection: NYRB Classics Adapted Into Films

Many of the books published in our NYRB Classics series have been adapted for the cinema. From Greta Garbo in Grand Hotel (winner of the 1932 Academy Award for Best Picture, based on the book by Vicki Baum), to Kirk Douglas in Michael Curtiz’s Young Man with a Horn (adapted from Dorothy Baker’s novel), to Humphrey Bogart in Nicholas Ray’s film noir In a Lonely Place (inspired by Dorothy B. Hughes’s dark tale), NYRB Classics have been well represented on screen.
