Thorkild Hansen

Thorkild Hansen (1927–1989) was a novelist best known for his Slave Trilogy, which included Coast of Slaves, Ships of Slaves, and Island of Slaves. He also wrote about Knut Hamsun and authored a history of Jens Munk, North West to Hudson’s Bay. In 1971, he won the Nordic Council’s Literature Prize. An avid traveler and travel writer, he died during a voyage in the Caribbean.
